Warranty

Warranty
Brik bikes warrants that its bicycles are free from construction and/or material defects to the extent it follows from this warranty; the warranty can only be invoked if the bicycle was purchased from an authorised Brik dealer. The warranty is only transferable if the original sales invoice can be submitted.

Warranty period A
Frame and shaft drive: a 3 year warranty on construction and/or material defects.
For the paintwork of the frame and fork, a 3 year warranty applies to corrosion from the inside.
For forks and all other components, barring the excluded items, the same 3 year warranty applies to bikes purchased after 01/01/2016. There is no warranty on any wearing parts such as tires, bearings, cables and brake pads except in cases of construction and/or material defects.

After the warranty period, Brik offers a standard compensation scheme based on depreciation.

Warranty exceptions
In the following instances the warranty lapses:

  • Bicycle rental to third parties;
  • Improper use such as stunt riding;
  • Repairs not carried out in a professional manner;
  • Incorrect adjustment/tension of gears, handlebar, stem, seat post and saddle;
  • Failure to replace parts such as brake/shift cables, brake pads and tires in good time;
  • Climatic influences such as normal weathering of paint or chrome rust.

Warranty on parts

During the warranty period, all parts  Brik has established to have a material and/or constructional defect will be repaired or compensated for at Brik’s discretion.
Costs of transportation of the bicycle and/or parts to and from Brik are borne by the owner, unless the part in question falls under the warranty.
If the original of a certain part under warranty is no longer available, Brik will provide an alternative of at least equivalent quality.

Filing a claim

Once a defect has been established, the owner is obliged to immediately stop using the bicycle and furthermore to do everything possible to prevent (further) damage.

Claims under this warranty must be filed via the Brik dealer where the bicycle was purchased and  the bicycle or its relevant part must be offered for inspection. The original sales invoice must be included.

Liability
If Brikbikes should honour a warranty claim, this doesn’t automatically mean Brik bikes accepts liability for any possible damage. The liability of Brik bikes is at all times limited to that which is stated in this warranty. Any liability by Brik bikes for consequential damages is expressly excluded. The provision in this clause doesn’t apply if, and to the extent that, such results from a mandatory legal provision.
